Bitumen Cold Mix
The product we use to repair pot holes is a high grade asphalt Bitumen cold mix, the same product is used extensively in the UK, United States, Australia and New Zealand on state highways and for other commercial roading repairs. It is the most cost effective and preferred method to repair ashphalt pot holes.
Bitumen cold mix is the most effective way to repair small pot holes on asphalt surfaces such as drive ways, parking areas, school yards, playgrounds, walk ways, bike paths, and any other asphalt area.
Benefits of using a Bitument cold mix
Repairs to asphalt using a Bitumen cold mix can be made in any weather conditions wet or dry it doesn't matter, and at any time of the year, The Bitumen compound bonds equally as well in wet conditions as it does in dry conditions.
Pot hole repairs using a Bitumen cold mix can withstand traffic flow immediately so there is no waiting around for it to set, and blends in well with existing asphalt.
Crack Fix
Crack fix or filler is a special asphalt emulsion used to fill cracks in asphalt surfaces, but more importantly to seal them from rain water.
Cracking is not good ! When asphalt cracks it allows water to get in underneath, when this happens the water begins to break up the asphalt resulting in pot holes.
Crack fix helps to prevent further cracking and is best used on linear cracks, small cuts and joins.
if there is too much cracking the best method is to dig up the entire damaged area and repair with Bitumen cold mix.
Top Seal
Top seal is a premium emulsion it is used to seal in the asphalts natural oils and resins, while preventing it from water damage such as cracking which can lead to the formation of pot holes.
Top seal can be used on all asphalt surfaces and requires up to 24 hours with no rain for it to work effectively, top seal can only be applied on to dry asphalt, and will last for approximately 3 - 5 years depending on traffic flow.
When applied top seal is a smooth shiny black colour and will take roughly 6 months to a year for it to fade and blend with existing asphalt.
We do not use Top seal very often as most of our asphalt repairs do not require it, however it is another method we can use to seal cracking if needed.
